Scouts at the Manchester United Under-21s’ Premier League 2 clash with Liverpool Under-21s ‘expressed’ their true feelings about two talents at Old Trafford.
Manchester United Under-21s travelled away on Sunday afternoon and the Red Devils’ youth academy players visited the Liverpool Training Centre for their tie.
The Red Devils’ youth team came from behind to pick up a 2-1 win in the Premier League 2 match, with Liverpool Under-21s opening the scoring in the first half.
Liverpool U21s took the lead through Michael Laffey inside the first 15 minutes, but United U21s found the all-important equaliser through Chido Obi before half-time.
Jaydan Kamason was the difference-maker between the two sides in the second half and the 18-year-old United defender netted the winner for the Red Devils’ U21s.

Scouts at Man Utd Under-21s vs Liverpool Under-21s show their true colours about Diego Leon and Harry Amass
Diego Leon started for Manchester United Under-21s for his first match with the youth team and the 18-year-old Paraguayan wonderkid saw out the first half.
But the United talent was subbed off at half-time and attacking midfielder James Scanlon replaced Diego Leon in Sunday’s 2-1 win at the Liverpool Training Centre.
Leon arrived at Old Trafford in the summer from Paraguayan side Cerro Porteno and he took part in the Red Devils’ pre-season tour under manager Ruben Amorim.
The former Cerro Porteno talent has reportedly made a big impression at Old Trafford so far and is rated as a top long-term prospect for the Red Devils.
According to The Daily Mail, there were ‘plenty of scouts’ at the United U21s match and they expressed their sentiment on emerging player Leon and Harry Amass.
The newspaper claims that the scouts ‘expressed their confusion’ at United’s ‘decision’ to ‘prioritise’ Leon at Old Trafford over the ‘excelling’ Harry Amass.
Where is Harry Amass now and what happened with him and Diego Leon at Man Utd?
Harry Amass has been admired during his United career and the English left-back has often been seen as the heir-apparent to Luke Shaw at the Premier League club.
The 18-year-old has featured for the United first team after emerging through the youth academy ranks, but Harry Amass has not established himself as a regular.
But the decision was made in the summer for United to loan Amass to Sheffield Wednesday until January to allow him to secure more first-team opportunities.
The United left-back left Old Trafford on deadline day and Amass has impressed at Sheffield Wednesday with his early showing on loan at the Championship club.
It is believed that Diego Leon has been seen as the second-choice left-back option behind Patrick Dorgu for United in the 2025-26 season under Ruben Amorim.
