Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has picked out three players he believes are past their prime at the club.
During his playing days Paul Scholes was a man of few words. Since retirement, his punditry has been as uncompromising as one of his tackles.
Scholes is never afraid to hold back from calling it as he sees it, and with Manchester United a shadow of the team he played for under Sir Alex Ferguson, his comments are frequently harsh.
The Class of 92 legend’s latest remarks are targeted at three players he believes should soon leave the Red Devils.

Scholes: Three must go
Speaking in an interview with The Times, Paul Scholes says three Manchester United players can no longer cut it in the Premier League.
Citing the physical demands of English football, Scholes says Casemiro, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw should all be moved on.
He explained: “Shaw, Maguire, Casemiro, they’ve all been great players but they’re at a stage of their career now where you get found out in the Premier League if you’re not physically good enough,
“Their bodies are not athletic enough, they’re not strong enough, they’re not quick enough. They’ve dropped to a level where they can’t cope with what’s needed in the Premier League.
“Every player in the Premier League is an absolute machine. They’ve got five per cent body fat, they can run, they’re strong, they can head it. Manchester United are carrying two or three players that are just not capable of living with it.”
Casemiro and Shaw have been regular starters for Manchester United this season, while Maguire has also featured frequently.
At the end of the season Casemiro and Maguire’s contracts are set to expire, but there is speculation these deals might be extended.
Shaw’s contract at United runs to 2027 after United extended his deal in 2023.
Scholes never believed in Casemiro
Scholes claims that Manchester United were tricked into to signing Casemiro, buying him when he was on the decline after a successful career with Real Madrid.
“We got sucked into that one, and there’s been quite a few like that.”
Opinions can differ on the value Casemiro has brought to Manchester United, but the real problem has been that he has been impossible to sell, due to the high wages he is on.
This has in turn prevented United from buying a replacement, and his likely exit next summer provides a renewed chance to revamp the midfield.
