Man Utd loanee has best performance yet, 94 per cent passing and one assist

Manchester United have a long list of young talents on loan this summer, with one Championship loanee now having his best game yet.

The past few years have seen Manchester United fail to properly utilise the loan market, with youngsters often sent to clubs that just don’t suit.

To combat this, Jonny Evans was appointed loan manager in the summer following his retirement from playing.

During the summer transfer window, United sent 18 players out on loan, with three being loaned to England’s second division, which is an excellent testing ground for young talent.

Now, one of these three has just had his best performance yet.

Toby Collyer has best performance yet for West Brom on loan from Manchester United

With first-team minutes at United looking slim, Toby Collyer headed on loan to West Brom for this season, where he looks to refine his game.

Despite Collyer being promised a key role, he started the season on the bench, struggling for minutes; however, that has changed recently.

Collyer has now been starting games and was in from the start against Preston in a 2-1 win when he had his best performance since making the move.

Stat Vs. Preston
Minutes 55
Assists 1
Accurate passes 30/32 (94%)
Chances created 2
Touches 38
Tackles 2
Interceptions 1
Recoveries 2
Ground duels 2/4

Unfortunately for Collyer, it seems his early withdrawal is due to a suspected knee injury, which is the last thing he needed as he was just building momentum on loan.

Hopefully, it’s more precaution than genuine concern.

Ethan Wheatley among the goals for Northampton

Collyer wasn’t the only loanee to impress on Saturday, as Ethan Wheatley was in the starting line-up for Northampton against Doncaster.

Wheatley put in a really decent performance, scoring his second goal of the season in a 2-1 win for the League One side.

Wheatley has enjoyed a much better loan this season than he did at Walsall last season, and as a result, his stock is once again on the rise.

The 19-year-old is unlikely to become a starter for United, but by shining on loan, he can earn himself a place in the minds of Championship and League One clubs looking for a new striker next summer.

This could be his avenue into becoming a success.
