Ruben Amorim told he is doing exact opposite of one of ‘best’ Premier League managers right now, ‘it’s a big problem’

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has been warned that he should be taking a closer look at what one Premier League head coach has done as a manager.

Ruben Amorim has earned a reprieve this week from a flood of criticism over his reign as Manchester United manager after the October international break started.

The 40-year-old Portuguese coach has been under fire early in the current Premier League season after the Red Devils’ struggling form in their opening matches.

United have won three of their first seven Premier League fixtures in the 2025-26 campaign, but the Red Devils have been incredibly inconsistent in their displays.

Amorim did earn some breathing space last weekend after United defeated Sunderland 2-0 at Old Trafford and took home all three Premier League points.

Sky Sports pundit Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink wants Ruben Amorim to remain as Man Utd manager, despite sending him a warning

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink appeared on Sky Sports and the pundit has been critical of Ruben Amorim after Manchester United’s underwhelming start to the season.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has spoken out on Amorim recently and the 72-year-old Ineos chief has publicly backed the United head coach amid the criticism that he has received.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink admitted that he wants United to stick with Amorim, but he warned the ex-Sporting CP manager to take a look at other managers in the league.

The Sky Sports pundit specifically singled out Gunners boss Mikel Arteta, who is currently pushing for a Premier League title challenge with Arsenal this season.

“Yes. I don’t want to see managers getting the sack,” he said.

“I don’t want that. But when you’re talking about Arteta, when you’re talking about the best managers, the managers that win the most, they are flexible. They’re flexible.

“When, yes, they have got their identity and they want to play a certain way and they want a certain formation and they have got a favourite way, but when they don’t have the players, they don’t have the personnel, they adapt.”

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink explains his key concern with Ruben Amorim amid Man Utd’s 2025-26 Premier League season

United’s result against Sunderland last Saturday provided the Red Devils with momentum ahead of their trip to Anfield to face Liverpool on 19th October.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has said that Ruben Amorim’s refusal to pivot on his tactics is a “big problem” and the United boss has to be pragmatic with his approach.

“They [the other managers] adapt to the situation until they can get what they want,” he continued.

“He doesn’t want to adapt. He does not want to adapt. That, for me, is a problem. It’s a big problem. You have to be flexible.”

United and Liverpool’s Premier League showdown in the aftermath of the October international break is slated for a 4:30pm kick-off time in the UK.
