Scott McTominay has become one of the highest-rated players in Serie A since leaving Manchester United over a year ago.
The former Manchester United midfielder has established himself as a key part of Antonio Conte’s side at Napoli, after being voted Serie A’s most valuable player following a title-winning debut campaign.
McTominay, 29, ranked 18th after being nominated in the 30-man Ballon d’Or shortlist for his heroics in a Napoli and Scotland shirt.
The United academy graduate has remained an important player for the Serie A champions this season, featuring in Thursday night’s win over AC Milan to secure a place in the Super Cup Italiana final. Rasmus Hojlund scored the winner for Napoli.

Meanwhile, United have not shown signs of improving since McTominay left, as his final appearance for the club came in the FA Cup win over Man City. It would be fair to say results have worsened at Old Trafford since then.

McTominay shared an interview view on players leaving United to achieve things elsewhere, but he didn’t lay the blame with his former club and expressed pride at how he scored 10 goals in his final season before moving to Italy.
When asked how he reflects on his time at United, McTominay told CBS Sports: “Yeah, with immense pride to be honest.
“I played 255 times, scored some important goals and won two trophies for my team. If you said that when I was 16, I would never have believed you.
“I’m extremely grateful for all the people I’ve met at the club, and I always wish them the best no matter what happened, the financial difficulties in football these days where people have to move, or whatever happened when I left is not important. It’s that I loved my dream and played for Man United and I’m proud to say that.”
McTominay has gone from strength to strength since leaving United, but everyone at Old Trafford will be happy to see him achieve.
The Napoli star has the 2026 World Cup to look forward to after a successful qualification campaign with Scotland.
