RB Leipzig and Ivory Coast star Yan Diomande has revealed his ‘dream’ move after being linked with multiple clubs around Europe, including Manchester United.
The January transfer window presents clubs with an opportunity to add to their squads or subtract if they have players to sell that are attracting attention from suitors elsewhere.
Manchester United are unlikely to sign any players this month, but that could change if Joshua Zirkzee or Manuel Ugarte leave Old Trafford amid links to moves elsewhere in Europe.
Attempts were made to sign players midway through the season, but United missed out on Antoine Semenyo. On top of that, a fee could not be agreed upon for Carlos Baleba as Brighton pushed to keep hold of the midfielder until the end of the season.
Who Is The BIGGEST Missed Man Utd Transfer Target Since The 2000s? ✍️😭
It is time to settle this debate once and for all… 🍿
United fans will argue the team needs to be strengthened to give whoever becomes interim head coach the best chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season. The midfield department needs the most investment, but that hasn’t stopped United from looking at new options in attack.

Yan Diomande wants to sign for Liverpool amid Man Utd links
United have been strongly linked with Diomande, although the RB Leipzig star has made it clear that he wants to sign for Liverpool.
The 19-year-old joined RB Leipzig in the summer before establishing himself as one of the brightest talents in the Bundesliga.
Diomande’s rise to prominence has led to rumours of the youngster moving again in the coming year.
The United-linked star has now revealed in a new video that he is a Liverpool fan, and that it would be his father’s ‘dream’ to see him sign for the Merseyside outfit.
“I want to play at Anfield, I want to play for Liverpool,” Diomande said during a TikTok live video, revealing something that will be off-putting to most like-minded United fans.
“I’m a big Liverpool fan. My father’s dream is to see me play for Liverpool.”
Imagine you are Bryan Mbeumo, what is your reaction returning to Man Utd and seeing Ruben Amorim has been sacked?
This gives Liverpool a huge advantage over other clubs that want to sign Diomande in 2026.
With Mohamed Salah strongly linked with a Liverpool exit, Diomande could be seen as an alternative option.
Man Utd believe Yan Diomande will go for less than £86 million
Previous reports suggest that RB Leipzig want £86 million for Diomande, but United do not fear that his signature will cost that much.
It could be an exaggeration as RB Leipzig will be looking to sell to the biggest bidder in the summer.
After failing to sign Semenyo, Diomande could be seen as an alternative option for as much as £52 million.
“Leipzig’s position is essentially they don’t want to sell, and they value the player around €100 million,” Ben Jacobs told talkSPORT.
“But I’m told that suitors, Tottenham, Manchester United, Bayern and PSG all feel that a deal could be possible a little bit cheaper and some even argue quite considerably so around the €60 million.
“But because the player is at AFCON with the Ivory Coast and he only joined Leipzig at the beginning of this season, it might be more of a summer saga.”
Yan Diomande and Amad Diallo face Mohamed Salah in AFCON quarter-finals
The Ivory Coast take on Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals tonight.
With Diomande and Amad Diallo playing on either flank, the Ivory Coast will face a decent Egypt side inspired by Salah.
United fans want Amad back as soon as possible, which means it won’t be the end of the world if Egypt win.
Cameroon crashed out of the AFCON quarter-finals on Friday night, which means Bryan Mbeumo will be in contention in time for the Manchester derby next Sunday.
