Michael Carrick began his Manchester United interim spell in the best way possible by beating Manchester City emphatically.
Derby day on Saturday saw Manchester painted red with goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu.
United beat City 2-0, but the statistics show that it was not close at all. Instead, United humiliated City and Pep Guardiola with a stunning performance.
WHO was your man of the match for Manchester United vs City?
Let us know who you picked…
It was the first of Carrick’s 17 games in charge of United, before Ineos are planning to make a long-term head coach appointment in the summer.
It is up to Carrick to try and throw his name into the hat for the permanent job, and so far his record in charge of the Red Devils is outstanding.

Michael Carrick has beaten world-class managers
At Old Trafford, Carrick outclassed Guardiola tactically despite having just three days to work with his backroom staff on a game plan.
If we also consider Carrick’s first stint as United caretaker, where he beat Unai Emery’s Villarreal and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, his CV is stacking up impressively.
Michael Carrick is off to the PERFECT START at Man Utd, and he wants more!
Why do you think it went SO RIGHT for Carrick against City?
Next week, Carrick will hope to build on his derby win when United travel to face Arteta’s Arsenal at the Emirates. United supporters will have much more hope around that game than they did a week ago.

But if Carrick truly wants to challenge for the permanent United job, it is ironically against the smaller clubs where he will need to impress.
Michael Carrick must prove he can break low-block defences
Despite United’s struggles in the past decade, the Red Devils have often popped up with impressive one-off displays against Big Six opponents.
Amorim’s best win came against Liverpool, while he also bested Guardiola’s City while in charge of United. His overall record in the Premier League, though, was terrible.
United thrive with space to play in, as seen with the lethal counter-attacks against City, but that will not always be the case in the Premier League.
The most disappointing performances this season have come against sides that have turned up to play defensively at Old Trafford. A defeat to 10-men Everton springs to mind, as well as the disappointing draw with West Ham.
After facing Arsenal, Carrick faces Fulham and Tottenham at home, followed by West Ham and Everton away.
That is where Carrick and his tactics will truly be judged, as United will likely dominate possession and be challenged to break down defences.
