Marcus Rashford’s future is still yet to be decided while away on loan from Manchester United at Barcelona.
It is public knowledge that there is a £26 million buy option attached to Marcus Rashford’s loan deal, but Barcelona are yet to make it clear whether they plan to trigger it or not.
Barcelona have held talks with United over a cheaper deal for Rashford, but now that Ruben Amorim has been sacked, the idea of him returning to Old Trafford has been floated.
Are you worried Barcelona won’t sign Marcus Rashford permanently?
How does that change Man Utd's transfer plans?
Interim head coach Michael Carrick wants Rashford back, so if he is made the permanent head coach in the summer, it could be a saga to follow.

Marcus Rashford’s stance on returning to Man United
Since his move to Spain, Rashford has been loving life in Barcelona, so a return to Manchester may not be his top priority.
Speaking on the ESPN FC podcast, Rob Dawson said: “Rashford had some of his best years under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and obviously Carrick was there on the staff at the time.
“So you can understand the link. My understanding of that situation, though, was that not only did Rashford burn his bridges with Amorim, which doesn’t matter anymore because Amorim is now gone, he also burned his bridges a little bit with the club.
“And obviously, those decision makers are still there. Now, I can understand that if the relationship is still intact, which I’m not sure it is, there are obvious reasons why you would want to bring Rashford back.
“For all the stick and the grief that he got from Man United fans for what was perceived to be a lack of effort towards the end, he was still Man United’s big star in terms of the commercial pull.
Now Ruben Amorim has been fired, do you want Marcus Rashford to have another chance at Man Utd?
“Any kind of sponsors or media companies or broadcasters who wanted to do interviews with Man United players, invariably, it was always Rashford.
“Now, that won’t mean very much to fans, but it does mean something to a football club, particularly when that player is someone who’s grown up in Manchester and been at a club since they were a kid and came through the academy.
“I would suggest it’s a long shot, because he seems very settled in Barcelona.
“I think all the signs point towards him staying at Barcelona. But if Carrick was to get that job, you can understand why there are stories circulating that he may want to go to the hierarchy and say, what’s the situation?”
Jason Wilcox will have a say on Marcus Rashford’s future
As Dawson points out, the decision to drop Rashford and freeze him out of the squad was led by Amorim, but supported by the club’s hierarchy.
Sporting director Jason Wilcox is not keen on Rashford’s return, and his voice carries weight around Carrington and Old Trafford.
While the idea of Rashford’s return will appeal to many, it is best for all parties if the relationship is ended here.
United can cash in on an academy product and Rashford can continue to enjoy his football in Spain.
However, United must stay stubborn with their asking price and make sure Barcelona pay the full £26 million for Rashford’s signature.
