Jack Grealish was left impressed by Bruno Fernandes’ latest display after Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday.
Bruno Fernandes has won the Manchester United player of the year award four times since joining the club in January 2020.
There is no denying that the Portugal international has been one of the most influential players in that time, and at the age of 31, he continues to win football matches for United.
In Fernandes’ latest performance, he surpassed David Beckham’s previous record for 15 assists in a single Premier League season, as United beat Aston Villa 3-1.

Jack Grealish backs up claims for Bruno Fernandes to win Player of the Year award
Manchester City loanee and former Aston Villa ace Jack Grealish was left stunned by Fernandes’ masterclass as United secured a 3-1 win over Unai Emery’s side on Sunday.
The Everton star took to social media to hail the United captain following a performance that will see him emerge as a contender for the Premier League Player of the Year award.
Fernandes has 16 Premier League assists in 27 appearances, with eight games left to play. He is now within touching distance of the all-time Premier League record for a single season, currently held by Thierry Henry and Kevin de Bruyne, who both managed 20 assists.
Grealish’s Instagram story described Fernandes as an “absolutely unbelievable footballer’ after witnessing a heroic display when United needed him most.
Fernandes’ status at United is unquestioned. He’s won the player of the year award at the club several times already, but it’s about time he gets that recognition at Premier League level.
According to The Athletic, Fernandes’ assists and seven goals have been worth 23 points so far this season. That equates to more than any other player in the top flight.
Fernandes consistently creates more chances than any other player in the league, and Grealish’s latest praise should give him a shoo-in to win the Premier League Player of the Year award.
Especially if United clinch a spot in the top four because Fernandes will be crucial to achieving that.
Bryan Mbeumo can push Bruno Fernandes for Man Utd award
As United’s top scorer, Bryan Mbeumo will be in contention for United’s Player of the Year award.
It doesn’t mean the new signing will be more deserving than Fernandes or any other contender, but it means he has settled quickly into his new surroundings at Old Trafford.
Hopefully, Mbeumo can finish the season strongly and use that as a platform to kick on again next season with United back in the Champions League, granted Carrick’s side can get across the finish line.
