Anderson names Bruno Fernandes as his favourite player in the current Manchester United squad, with an accurate explanation that highlights his understanding of the club.
Nobody can deny that Bruno Fernandes has been Manchester United’s best player since joining from Sporting CP in January 2020.
Over six years on, Fernandes is regarded as a strong contender for the Premier League Player of the Year award.
Former United duo Rio Ferdinand and Anderson caught up recently for a podcast when the Brazilian, who was a cult hero at Old Trafford, expressed his appreciation for Fernandes.

Anderson hails ‘unbelievable’ Bruno Fernandes
Anderson and Ferdinand discussed a range of topics on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast.
Among them was Anderson’s backing of Michael Carrick as United head coach. The former Brazil international expressed disappointment at ex-players who have been critical of the 44-year-old’s work to date as a coach at Old Trafford.
Ferdinand also asked Anderson to name his favourite player at United right now.
Anderson didn’t think twice before explaining what separates Fernandes from the rest of the United first team squad.
“Now, I think for me it’s Bruno Fernandes, for the last few years he’s done it by himself,” Anderson said, before correcting himself slightly.
“Not by himself, but he’s been more important because I think Manchester have done some, not the right choices for the club.
“For this club, you need to not just be an unbelievable player, you need to understand the club.”
Fernandes is one assist away from reaching a Premier League record tally (20), previously set by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

Anderson says Man Utd should’ve signed Neymar and Kylian Mbappe
On the same podcast, Anderson named some players he feels United missed out on in recent years.
The two players Anderson would’ve liked at United are Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
He added: “I don’t understand, they have money, they pay, they have money to buy big players.
“Players resolve the problem, they don’t hide, I don’t know why when Neymar is fit they don’t take Neymar from PSG. They don’t take Mbappe from PSG, these are big players, some clubs need big players.”
