Manchester United’s midfield overhaul this summer is taking shape, and Rio Ferdinand is very excited by one transfer link.
Casemiro’s impending departure for Manchester United this summer has sparked a continent-wide search for the best possible midfield additions this summer.
Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba, and Alex Scott are three names on the midfield shortlist for United with Premier League experience, with others like Sandro Tonali also being considered.
However, in the past few weeks, United have been linked with Aurelien Tchouameni on an increasingly reliable scale. With Rio Ferdinand now sharing his thoughts on signing Tchouameni.

Rio Ferdinand shares Aurelien Tchouameni transfer verdict
Ferdinand discussed replacing Casemiro on his latest Rio Presents YouTube video, with Tchouameni being one name he raved about.
“Tchouameni would be great, but is he available? I don’t know if he’s available. His experience is huge”, Ferdinand admitted about the Frenchman.
“I think he speaks English as well, so that’s not an issue. I think he’s a fantastic footballer.
“I remember the game France-England in a tournament, I think it was Qatar. He was majestic. He was strong. He was commanding. He’s played in huge games. He has the experience. So I wouldn’t worry about him, but I’d be very happy to get him.”
Tchouameni is the best Casemiro replacement that United are currently looking at signing, with his physicality making him the perfect Kobbie Mainoo partner for the foreseeable future.
Tchouameni is the safest midfield option for Manchester United
Interest in Tchouameni is up there with Elliot Anderson as the most exciting potential arrivals this summer, with the Frenchman, experience-wise, the best option on the market.
Valued at £70m according to talkSPORT, Tchouameni would arrive ready to push United toward trophies immediately.
Tchouameni won’t struggle mentally at United, with the mental pressure at Real Madrid arguably more so than at Old Trafford.
Raphael Varane has already told Tchouameni why he should join United, and the French international brings winning experience to the club, while also being in his prime.
This signing would be a game-changer for United, and despite having no Premier League experience, his career to this point shows he won’t struggle.
Ferdinand summed up Tchouameni perfectly. Hopefully, Ineos will push forward with this deal.
