Ryan Giggs believes that one Manchester United-linked player in the Premier League could suit Bruno Fernandes’ playing style under Michael Carrick at Old Trafford.
Bruno Fernandes has enjoyed a superb run of form in the second half of the 2025-26 campaign after Ruben Amorim was sacked as Manchester United manager.
The 31-year-old Man Utd captain has been playing as a No 10 under Michael Carrick and has registered 10 assists in 12 Premier League matches under the interim boss.
Ryan Giggs appeared on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel and was asked whether or not he could see Cole Palmer playing for the Red Devils alongside Fernandes.

Ryan Giggs’ key role for Cole Palmer at Man Utd to ensure Bruno Fernandes’ No 10 influence remains intact
Cole Palmer has been linked with Manchester United in the past and the 23-year-old Chelsea star’s future at Stamford Bridge has been cast in doubt this season.
The Blues ace, who is a boyhood Man Utd supporter, has publicly shut down speculation that he is looking for a move away at the end of the current campaign.
However, United legend Ryan Giggs thinks that Palmer could work well at the Red Devils and would play him off the right side of Bruno Fernandes in a tactical set-up.
“Yeah, he would [fit in at Man Utd], [he is a] Manchester lad,” he said on Rio Ferdinand Presents.
“Where would he play with obviously Bruno [Fernandes] at No 10? He could play off the right, possibly.”
Ryan Giggs thinks Cole Palmer would offer an alternative to Bruno Fernandes’ influence if Man Utd captain were injured
Man Utd target Palmer, who moved to Chelsea from Manchester City in 2023, is under contract with the Blues until 2033 amid the Red Devils’ transfer links.
Giggs suggested that the ex-Manchester City player’s versatility would also make him a viable, creative alternative for United if Fernandes were unavailable for selection.
“But yeah, we talk about [Rasmus] Hojlund and [Benjamin] Sesko, it’s only really Bruno who is creating things time and time again,” he added.
“What if Bruno has a bad day or he’s injured? You need three or four players in your squad who can make things happen for these players to put the ball in the back of the net.”
Palmer is expected to command a hefty price tag, including some reports suggesting a £150m fee, if the Blues did sanction a sale of the England international this summer.
