Sir Alex Ferguson told Ian Rush exactly how he felt about him after the iconic former Manchester United manager failed to land the Liverpool legend from Juventus.
The 84-year-old Manchester United legend was in attendance at The Randox Grand National at Aintree this week and was spotted alongside Liverpool icon Ian Rush.
Sir Alex Ferguson has been an avid lover of horse racing and the former United manager has often appeared at events like The Grand National in his retirement.
The legendary Scotsman was in the early part of his Old Trafford reign after he left Aberdeen in 1986 and he had set his sights on signing former Juventus player Rush.

Ian Rush, who is regarded as one of Liverpool’s best players of all time, left Anfield in 1986 and completed a then-British record transfer to Juventus for £3.2m.
The 64-year-old ex-Wales and Liverpool forward’s time in Turin was short-lived and he would initially return to Anfield on a loan deal before his permanent 1988 move.
During their appearance together at The Grand National, Rush said that Man Utd icon Sir Alex Ferguson wanted to land him while he was at Serie A side Juventus.
“When I was coming back from Juventus, he tried to sign me,” he admitted to ITV Sport.
Ferguson acknowledged that he did try to sign the former Juventus and Liverpool star, but not before playfully teasing his frustrations about Rush as a player.
“Absolutely, I hated him,” he said.

Rush enjoyed a successful second spell with Liverpool in the late 1980s and into the 1990s after he returned from Italian side Juventus.
The Liverpool icon lifted five First Division titles, two European Cups, three FA Cups and five League Cups across his legendary two spells at Anfield.
Rush showed nothing but pure admiration for Ferguson at Aintree and put the legendary former Man Utd boss into a unique class of football managers.
“By the way, he is a legend of managers; Scottish managers are the best,” he said alongside Ferguson.
Ferguson bowed out of Old Trafford as Red Devils manager in 2013 after he led Manchester United to their last Premier League title in the 2012-13 campaign.
