Jadon Sancho set to complete a unique hat-trick from Man Utd loan spells

Jadon Sancho made a cameo from the bench as Aston Villa came from behind against Nottingham Forest in an all-English semi-final to secure a place in the Europa League final.

It was a memorable night in Europe for Aston Villa as they reached the Europa League finals to arrange a showdown with Bundesliga outfit Freiburg.

Two players with Manchester United connections were involved as Aston Villa beat Nottingham Forest 4-1 on aggregate.

Victor Lindelof played 70 minutes in midfield, and Jadon Sancho came off the bench as Villa won 4-0 in the second leg.

Jadon Sancho on the verge of European final hat-trick

United loanee Sancho’s reputation has been low for some time.

At Old Trafford, he is known as a flop and will be removed from United’s books at the end of the season when his contract expires.

Sancho has had three loan spells since arriving at United in 2021. He returned to Borussia Dortmund, joined Chelsea temporarily, and is currently playing at Aston Villa, trying to revalue himself ahead of the summer when he’ll be a free agent.

The 26-year-old winger has now reached a European final in each of the last three seasons, making it a unique treble, granted he plays against Freiburg in Istanbul.

While on loan from United, Sancho played in the 2024 Champions League final with Dortmund before helping Chelsea win the Conference League final last year.

Sancho only came off the bench for four minutes against Forest on Thursday night.

The England international didn’t have a single impact on the game as Villa were leading 4-0 when he came on the pitch.

Sancho did, however, manage one defensive contribution and touched the ball once.

He also made one clearance to help Villa book a place in the Europa League final.
