Ederson is set to join Manchester United from Atalanta this summer in what will be a big leap for the Brazilian in a new league, which will test him.
Manchester United’s summer overhaul is set to begin with the signing of Ederson from Atalanta for a potential bargain fee of £34.5m.
United agreed a deal to sign Ederson this week after a long period of negotiation, and he is likely to arrive as a third-choice midfielder.
Despite United fans being unsure over Ederson, the general consensus is that he will be a good signing for a reasonable fee. The biggest question mark is over his suitability for Premier League football.
But now we can look back at Ederson’s stance on a move to England.

Ederson can prove himself for Manchester United
Ederson spoke to AS back in 2024 about his career and the future, in which he admitted his ambitions to one day play in the Premier League.
“I don’t know, I’ve thought about it a lot, I like Italy, I’m well adapted, but I’m curious about the Premier League, so I don’t know.
“I’m still growing, so I don’t know if I’ll stay in Italy. I think I still have more to prove. If I go somewhere else, well, too. I will continue to grow.”
The ‘more to prove’ is clearly for Ederson to do it at a higher level, for a bigger club, and he will do that for United in the Premier League and Champions League.
United haven’t got a great record with Serie A signings, but Ederson’s ambition and keenness on the league should give him a leg up.
Ederson also admitted to admiring Casemiro
Ederson’s comments on the Premier League are matched by his admiration for United icon Casemiro.
In the same 2024 interview, Ederson praised his compatriot Casemiro as his idol.
“I really like Casemiro for the career he did, his ability to play and adapt in big clubs, and also being very important wherever he went.
“He is, with certainty, a player to have as a mirror, even here in the Selecao. He had great moments; it’s the history of the Canarinha. He is a player I really admire for the career he has.”
Now, Ederson has the chance to replace Casemiro for United, and he arrives with a lot to prove.
