Michael Carrick’s decision to stick with Bryan Mbeumo for the full 90 minutes of Manchester United’s win over Ipswich Town was not an ‘injustice’ for another player at Old Trafford.
Bryan Mbeumo started the Premier League opener at the MKM Stadium and was unable to make an impact in Manchester United’s defeat to Hull City this month.
Michael Carrick stuck with the 27-year-old Cameroon international on Sunday and Mbeumo made his mark for United in the Ipswich Town match at Old Trafford.
Mbeumo added his name to the scoresheet in the Premier League clash after producing a superb finish from a Bruno Fernandes pass in the 82nd minute.

Bryan Mbeumo showed his confidence and composure after his lobbed ball near the edge of the penalty area caught an onrushing Kjell Scherpen in no-man’s land.
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick had made all five of his substitutions during the 70-minute to 80-minute period before Mbeumo netted in the clash.
If Carrick had subbed Mbeumo off for Shea Lacey, it would have stopped the Cameroon international from building his confidence in the final third.
Mbeumo, who was in stunning form during the pre-season summer tour, is now on the receiving end of early momentum after opening his goalscoring account.
The former Brentford star has experienced patchy periods after his form in the final third has taken a hit at times, especially during his debut season at Old Trafford.
Considering the goalscoring margin of Man Utd’s win over Ipswich Town, it does feel that Shea Lacey had suffered an ‘injustice’ by not getting a cameo in the match.

Carrick was able to rotate more important positions on the pitch with his five substitutes instead of bringing Mbeumo off for Shea Lacey on Sunday.
Wayne Rooney admitted that he was disappointed that his former Man Utd teammate did not present Lacey with the chance to pick up minutes.
“What I would like to have seen, which I’m a bit disappointed we didn’t see, was Shea Lacey come on when the game was done,” he said on The United Stand.
“For young players, when the game is over, it’s an opportunity for them to go and get some minutes and go and show what they can do at that level.”
Lacey already secured minutes in the Hull City defeat and the 19-year-old winger has plenty of time to pick up more opportunities in the 2026-27 campaign.
However, it should not be a ‘forced’ decision to bring Lacey on the pitch when it is not needed to simply ‘tick boxes’ for his development in the Red Devils first team.
The fact that Lacey is consistently securing a place on the United first-team bench is more important in his long-term progression at Old Trafford at this stage.
