Lisandro Martinez has now found himself alongside former teammate Jonny Evans for an unlucky Premier League milestone with Manchester United.
The 28-year-old Argentine defender remains a key Manchester United first-team player at Old Trafford under Red Devils head coach Michael Carrick this season.
Lisandro Martinez has made five appearances in seven matches across all competitions for United in the current campaign ahead of the October break.
The 2022 World Cup winner started and played the full 90 minutes of Man Utd’s last four Premier League matches, including netting an own goal in his recent display.

Lisandro Martinez allowed Fulham to take the lead over Manchester United on Sunday evening after he turned the ball past Senne Lammens in the second half. The former Ajax star’s blushes were spared after Matheus Cunha slammed home United’s crucial equaliser against Fulham at Craven Cottage in the 1-1 draw.
The United centre-back had been playing relatively well in Sunday’s Premier League clash and was even denied a stunning long-range first-half opener by Bernd Leno. Opta Analyst has now crunched the numbers and found that Martinez hit an unfortunate Premier League milestone for United with his own goal.
Martinez has scored three own goals for Man Utd in the Premier League since the Red Devils signed the Argentina international from Ajax in 2022. The Argentina defender has mirrored Jonny Evans, who is now part of Michael Carrick’s United coaching staff, for the record when it comes to United players.
Both Martinez and Evans are joined by Wes Brown, John O’Shea and Henning Berg for the Man Utd players with the most own goals in the Premier League since the league’s inception in 1992. Martinez picked up his two previous own goals during the 2025-26 Premier League season against Arsenal and Liverpool.
United are 12th in the Premier League table and the Red Devils have only five points from their opening five matches under Carrick in the 2026-27 campaign. United will return to Premier League action on 10th October after the extended international break, as the Red Devils will host Tottenham at Old Trafford.
