Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has responded strongly to the decision that cost the club against City.
Erling Haaland netted a winner at Old Trafford to nick City a 1-0 away victory. The goal was initially ruled out before VAR permitted it.
Lisandro Martinez slammed the VAR injustice and stated that he wanted answers over the decision.
Head coach Michael Carrick has also made his displeasure clear, with Enzo Fernandez clearly interfering with play.
Carrick stated: “The explanation I got is he wasn’t interfering with play. I just don’t get it.
“We try to help referees to come up with the right decisions, it’s that how the rules are interpreted. On top of that, where they drew the line was a bit dubious. It’s worrying if that’s how the game is seen by the officials.”
Carrick responds over potential apology
Michael Carrick was asked after the game if he could expect to receive an apology from the PGMOL this coming week.
“I can’t wait for that,” the United boss curtly responded.
Former referee Mark Clattenburg told United In Focus that City’s goal should not have been allowed.
City had been reduced to 10 men in the first half after Phil Foden was sent off.
United failed to take advantage and have a worryingly poor four points from the opening four games.
