Manchester United star Raphael Varane has sent a message of support to former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema.
Karim Benzema’s departure from Real Madrid was announced by the Spanish side over the weekend after 14 years at the club.
The club statement read: “Real Madrid would like to show our gratitude and affection to a player who is already one of our greatest legends.”
His former France and Real teammate Raphael Varane was among those to pay tribute.

Raphael Varane message to Karim Benzema
Raphael Varane won four Champions League titles alongside Karim Benzema, with the striker going onto add a fifth in 2021/22.
The Manchester United defender posted a message to Instagram in tribute to the striker.
He wrote: “Goals, memories, trophies and respect. One word above all… Legend. Good luck in your next chapter, frérot 🤍 @karimbenzema.”
Benzema responded with a simple reply which read: “Merci mon raphou🙌🏼🤍”
Next up for Benzema, the striker is expected to sign with Saudi side Al Ittihad on a two-year deal, ESPN report.
It would be very on-brand for Manchester United to bring the former Real striker in on a free transfer as another stop-gap solution up front.
However, it looks like he is Saudi-bound, following Cristiano Ronaldo in taking a lucrative move to the country.
