117 touches, 94% pass accuracy: Man Utd ace was top-class against Luton

Victor Lindelof was the match-winner for Manchester United on Saturday afternoon at Old Trafford against Luton Town.

The Swedish international was the goalscorer for Manchester United and also grabbed the highest average rating on SofaScore with an 8.5 out of 10.

Victor Lindelof only got to start today we think after Jonny Evans’ injury which he sustained against Copenhagen.

Erik ten Hag and Raphael Varane clearly have something going on as the Frenchman once again was snubbed and only called upon as a late substitution for left-back Sergio Reguilon.

But once again Ten Hag’s decision was justified with Lindelof the best player on the pitch.

Victor Lindelof stats v Luton

Lindelof was the highest-rated player during the 1-0 win against Luton for a very good reason via SofaScore.

Defensively, Lindelof was very solid with three clearances added with a blocked shot, an interception and a tackle. Alongside this, he won three of his four aerial duels and won 100% of his ground duels.

However, it wasn’t his defensive display which led to him being rated so high.

The Swede had 117 touches of the ball and truly dictated play with 102 passes completed out of 108, a 94% completion rate.

Clinical finishing saves the attacker’s blushes

Lindelof was also the game-winner, with an excellent finish after a loose ball fell to his feet in the box.

The United defender absolutely smashed it into the roof of the net leaving the Hatters goalkeeper no chance at all.

It was this finish which won the game, but it shouldn’t be up to him with various attackers missing huge opportunities in the game.

Lindelof could teach our forwards a thing or two about scoring after that strike.
