Furious Manchester United fans have ruthlessly slammed England star Marcus Rashford after his “disgraceful performance” against Newcastle at St James’ Park on Saturday.
Rashford has struggled with his form at United this season, with the 26-year-old Red Devils forward lacking his clinical finishing ability in the final third for his side.
The England international has started 13 Premier League matches for United this season, but Rashford has only managed to score twice and registered two assists.
Rashford scored from a penalty against Everton in United’s 3-0 win last month, only after Red Devils skipper Bruno Fernandes allowed him to step up for the spot-kick.
Erik ten Hag’s men travelled to St James’ Park on the back of their disappointing 3-3 draw in Istanbul against Galatasaray in the Champions League.
However, Rashford failed to impress against the Magpies and fans wasted no time in criticising him over his lacklustre performance for United.
United fans’ reaction to Rashford’s performance
Rashford was hooked off in the second half and replaced by Antony after Anthony Gordon fired Eddie Howe into the lead against United.
United fans took to X, formerly Twitter, and called out Rashford for his “body language” in the first half, with one supporter saying it was “disgraceful” to see.
One X user claimed that the Three Lions star dropped an “absolute stinker again,” while one suggested that Rashford is “so horribly out of form.”
“Rashford looks so lost this season, can’t even lie,” one fan said.
Someone else commented: “Rashford’s body language is disgraceful, needs dropping.”
Another added: “This is a disgraceful performance from Rashford. I’d be fuming if I was a United fan.”
While a fourth tweeted: “Marcus Rashford dropping an absolute stinker again. Not even bothering to put in a little bit of effort.”
And a fifth wrote: “Think Rashford needs dropping for a while. No work rate, poor passing, poor dribbling. He just isn’t finding any form.”
A sixth posted: “What’s the point of Rashford when he’s this switched off? Terrible off the ball, doesn’t track back, no effort for second balls. SMH [shake my head].”
“Not the same Rashford from last season, he’s so horribly out of form, he is not playing himself into form, confidence is shot, and every [match] he looks worse,” another said.
Rashford’s United form is a serious concern
Among all of the issues that Ten Hag has faced at Old Trafford this season, the United manager must be concerned with Rashford’s form at the moment.
Rashford has been staunchly defended by the former Ajax boss this season, but it’s becoming increasingly difficult to argue a case for him to start for United now.
The United star is lacking serious confidence and his red-hot form post-2022 World Cup last season feels like a distant memory at the moment.
Ten Hag is going to face mounting pressure over Rashford after the Newcastle clash and dropping him for the next match can’t be ruled out of the question right now.
