RB Leipzig are keen on signing exiled Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho as the Englishman’s struggles continue, according to reports.
Erik ten Hag fell out with Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho back in September and since then, even though the Red Devils have had injury issues, the Englishman has remained exiled.
With no sign of an apology from the 23-year-old towards the former Ajax boss, Sancho’s absence from the first-team squad continues with a move away from the club either in January or the summer, very likely with Barcelona previously linked.
Sancho has been a terrible signing for the Red Devils since he moved to the club in the summer of 2021 and it looks like his future at the club is away from Old Trafford.
Another club enter Sancho race
According to a report from German outlet BILD, RB Leipzig are said to be the next club ready to enter the race for the £73 million forward and could be ready to make their move.
Emil Forsberg looks to be on the move to the MLS with the New York Red Bulls and as a result, the German side are believed to be sourcing a replacement.
It’s made clear he has ‘no future’ at Old Trafford, but there remain obstacles that need to be overcome before anything gets done.
United are said to be demanding around £51 million, but Leipzig, however, are said to want a similar deal to Donny van de Beek’s move to Eintracht Frankfurt.
A loan move with the option to buy is said to appeal to the German side and the wages that Sancho is currently earning, which is around £250,000 a week according to Spotrac, could also be an issue.
Sancho’s future
There seems to be a lot of hills to overcome for the German side to be able to sign Sancho, not least the fee that United would demand for the former Borussia Dortmund forward.
Van de Beek’s move to Germany will surely see Leipzig attempt to negotiate a similar deal for Sancho, whether United would be interested in such a deal remains to be seen.
Sancho has to move from Old Trafford, if United could negotiate a loan with an obligation to buy that may well be the best possible outcome for all parties.
