Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has praised Kobbie Mainoo after the midfielder’s superb performance against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Sunday.
Kobbie Mainoo has been a breath of fresh air in the Manchester United first team this season and the teenage sensation has enjoyed a successful campaign.
The 18-year-old Stockport-born player has firmly established himself in the United midfield under Erik ten Hag and often impressed fans with his performances.
Mainoo has made 11 Premier League appearances for United and has started in all 11 fixtures, with the United star exhibiting incredible composure for an 18-year-old.
The United midfielder started the 2-1 win against Luton Town and played the full 90 minutes at Kenilworth Road, as the Red Devils walked away with all three points.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright and former England striker Gary Lineker were both in awe at Mainoo’s presence on the pitch and his overall performance for United.
United fans also reacted to Mainoo’s performance against Luton Town and were blown away by how he overshadowed fellow United star Casemiro.

Ten Hag praises Man Utd star Mainoo
Erik ten Hag has been a big admirer of Kobbie Mainoo and lauded the impact of the Manchester United star at Old Trafford this season.
Speaking after the Luton Town match (via Manchester United’s official website), the Dutchman insisted that Mainoo produced a “very mature” performance in his side’s win at Kenilworth Road.
Ten Hag added that the teenage sensation is “progressing” from match to match and has backed Mainoo to keep developing in the United first team this season.
When asked about the United youngsters standing out in his team, he said: “Yes, of course, we are pleased with the performances from the both of them, they performed very well.
“I think Kobbie [Mainoo] as well was very mature.
“He is progressing from game to game, hopefully, that process will keep going on and on.”
Could Mainoo earn an England call-up?
All eyes are on Gareth Southgate and whether the England manager decides to call up Mainoo for the Three Lions squad ahead of Euro 2024 in Germany this summer.
Mainoo is eligible to represent Ghana or England at senior level in his international career, although the United star has not committed his future to one country.
The United star has represented England at youth level, but no doubt there are question marks over which country will snap him up for senior level.
Wright was among those calling for Mainoo to secure a place in the England squad after watching him play against Luton Town.
Southgate has been quizzed about the prospects of Mainoo getting into the Three Lions squad and it only seems like a matter of time before it becomes a reality.
