‘Just irritated’ - Roy Keane stopped speaking with two Man Utd legends and was 'fuming' with one of them

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has revealed how he didn’t speak to one former teammate for “about 12 months” and was left “fuming” at another.

Roy Keane, who is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders of all time, had a prolific playing career at Old Trafford and enjoyed incredible success at the club.

The former Manchester United midfielder was widely hailed for his influence both on the pitch and off it, with Keane excelling as club captain for the Red Devils.

Keane impressed with his commanding box-to-box midfield ability and was well known for his no-nonsense approach and hardman presence on the pitch.

Former United star Lee Sharpe was among those who spoke about Keane at the Premier League club and what it was like going on a night out with him drinking.

Keane built a lasting legacy at United before his relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson fractured, with the Red Devils legend ruthlessly axed from the club in 2005.

The 52-year-old Irishman briefly played for Scottish side Celtic before his retirement, with Keane later opening up about the most embarrassing moment in his career.

Keane’s falling out with United legends

Speaking on the Stick to Football show, Roy Keane recalled his time at Old Trafford and his falling out with two of his former Manchester United teammates.

The Irish hardman admitted that he didn’t speak with fellow United legend Gary Pallister for “about 12 months” after leaving too early during a night out.

Keane revealed on another occasion that he was “fuming” with United legend Ryan Giggs and “didn’t speak for five or six months” due to him not doing a function.

“Me and Palli [Pallister] didn’t speak for about 12 months [he left too early during a night out],” he said on The Overlap.

“You just have these disagreements [as players].

“Palli’s a good guy – I fell out with Giggsy [Giggs], he wouldn’t do a function one time at the club – I was fuming with him.

“Me and Giggsy didn’t speak for five or six months!”

Keane continued: “You know [as a player] when you have to do something for your club – nobody wants to do anything at the club.

“I was like, ‘Giggs, you have to do what [the club] wants, we’ve all done it and it’s just your turn next.’

“Giggs was obviously good with stuff like that [doing functions] – it was just that day which I don’t mind, he went, ‘I’m not doing it,’ and I was just irritated by him – simple as that and we dragged it on for a few months.”

Gary Neville on Keane and Giggs’ argument

Gary Neville, who recently raised concerns about one United star, spent his entire club playing career at Old Trafford and shared the pitch with Keane and Giggs.

The Sky Sports pundit recalled his time at United and how on one occasion Keane and Giggs broke into an argument after he walked into the dressing room.

Speaking on the incident, Neville said: “I walked in at 8am into the dressing room, I’m in there first, and then Giggsy comes in and sits there – there were only three of us in the dressing room – me, Roy and Giggsy. They started arguing!

“I remember Roy saying you’ve done stuff for your testimonial or something like that and this [arguing] went on for about five minutes.

“I thought, ‘I’m getting f*****g out of here!’ There’s nothing I can do so I walked out, I came back in 10 minutes later and they were still going!”
