Luke Shaw and Casemiro in full agreement over best Man Utd player they’ve played alongside, no ‘explanation’ is needed

Casemiro and Luke Shaw both saw eye to eye on the best Manchester United player they have played alongside during their respective time at Old Trafford.

Both Luke Shaw and Casemiro remain important first-team players at Old Trafford under Erik ten Hag, despite the criticism aimed at both players.

Casemiro was met with fierce criticism last season after he struggled with his form and consistency, despite impressing in his debut campaign with Manchester United.

The 32-year-old Brazilian midfielder has made nine appearances across all competitions for United in the current season under Erik ten Hag.

Shaw, on the other hand, missed the tail end of the 2023-24 campaign after an injury before returning from the sideline to represent England at Euro 2024.

Despite playing a part in the Three Lions’ run to the final of Euro 2024 in Germany in the summer, Shaw has missed the opening weeks of the season due to injury.

Casemiro and Shaw on former Man Utd star

Speaking to JD Football’s TikTok account, both Casemiro and Luke Shaw were asked who was the best Manchester United player they played alongside.

Casemiro completed a blockbuster move to Old Trafford in 2022 in a deal worth £70m from Real Madrid, with the Brazilian reunited with Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Brazil international shared the pitch with Cristiano Ronaldo both at United and Real Madrid, with the pair enjoying incredible silverware success at the latter.

Casemiro was straight to the point after naming Ronaldo above anyone else, while Shaw waxed lyrical about the former United superstar’s impact on football.

When asked about the best player he played alongside, Shaw said: “Ronaldo. There’s not really an explanation for that.

“I think he’s been one, if not, the best player in the world for a number of years. So definitely him.”

Ronaldo’s messy Man Utd exit

Cristiano Ronaldo made his sensational return to Old Trafford in 2021 after his blockbuster move from Serie A side Juventus for a reported £12.8m fee.

The 39-year-old Portuguese forward impressed in his first season back in England under former United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

However, Ronaldo would later have a high-profile public feud with United manager Erik ten Hag after the Dutchman arrived from Ajax in 2022.

The Madrid and United legend launched a scathing attack on Erik ten Hag – among many other topics – in his bombshell interview with presenter Piers Morgan.

Ronaldo, who left Old Trafford in 2022 after his contract was mutually terminated, spoke out about Ten Hag’s mentality and his love for United in a recent interview.

“The coach says they cannot compete to win the [Premier] League and Champions League,” he said on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel in September.

“As Manchester United coach, you cannot say that you’re not going to fight to win the league or Champions League.

“Mentally [you can] say maybe we don’t have that potential, but I cannot say that. We’re going to try, you have to try.

“What I wish for Manchester [United], it’s what I wish for me – [to be] the best team they can.

“I love that club… I’m not that kind of guy that forgot the past.”
