Manchester United are back in the win column and among the goals after Saturday’s 2-1 win over Brentford.
Despite Manchester United going into half-time 1-0 down, by the time the final whistle went a positive bubble had once more encompassed Old Trafford.
Alejandro Garnacho started the comeback as he rifled in a volley from close range after he managed to get on the end of Marcus Rashford’s inch-perfect cross.
Erik ten Hag was full of praise for the Manchester United wingers after the game as it was these two who flipped the game on its head.
The comeback was completed by Rasmus Hojlund as he chipped the Bees keeper after Bruno Fernandes‘ expert flick found the Dane in space to see the game end United 2-1 Brentford.
Who was Manchester United fans’ man of the match vs Brentford
After the game, Manchester United fans were voting for the man of the match in the poll ran on the official club website.
In this vote, there was one crystal clear winner with 56 per cent of the vote.
- Alejandro Garnacho – 56 per cent
- Marcus Rashford – 11 per cent
- Rasmus Hojlund – 11 per cent
- Matthijs de Ligt – 8 per cent
- Bruno Fernandes – 5 per cent
- All other players have 2 per cent or less
It is little surprise that Garnacho was named the man of the match after he scored a nicely worked goal between him and Rashford.
Garnacho had eight shots in total as he proved a constant thorn in the side for Brentford, with only his finishing denying him potentially as much as a hat trick.
United’s No.17 was the clear man of the match, and on another day we could be discussing his performance as a 10/10.
How Alejandro Garnacho is becoming the star man at Old Trafford
After the game, Ten Hag’s praise of Garnacho included the Dutchman revealing the reason he picks the 20-year-old so often to be the threat he poses in attack.
But after the display against Brentford, we don’t need any explanation as it was completely clear.

Garnacho is a player who gives absolutely everything on the football pitch and despite his poor first-half, he kept going and eventually got his goal to start the comeback.
This season, through the struggles for United it has been Garnacho who has been at the centre of everything positive – involved directly in eight goals this season across all competitions already.
