Report: Man Utd reach final hurdle to sign Bryan Mbeumo, Brentford demanding one change to £60m deal

Manchester United have never been closer to securing the signing of Bryan Mbeumo than they are right now.

After weeks of speculation and talks, Manchester United are finally close to agreeing a deal to bring Bryan Mbeumo to the club.

Mbeumo is considered the new Mohamed Salah, with both boasting similar qualities and a substance over style attitude to football, which sees both rack up a lot of goals and assists.

In addition, Gary Neville has previously lauded Mbeumo as being perfect, which tells us just how special a footballer he is. Due to this, United had to beat interest from both Tottenham and Newcastle.

United’s first bid was rejected earlier in June, with £45m plus £10m not considered enough by the Bees, who want the top price for their key man.

However, over the past weekend, United submitted the second Mbeumo bid, which was reported to be worth over £60m in total. This bid has not been rejected, but now Brentford’s thoughts have been reported.

Brentford looking to negotiate easier add-ons in Bryan Mbeumo deal

Mbeumo has been priority number one for Ineos ever since a deal was struck to sign Matheus Cunha as the number one signing of the summer transfer window.

Cunha was used to convince United to up the bid by Brentford, which has led to the £60m fee being offered to the Bees.

Now, The Standard has claimed that the deal is edging closer, but there remains one final hurdle to cross.

United’s second bid is reported to be £55m up front, with an additional £5m in add-ons. However, the report claims that Brentford aren’t happy with the add-ons.

The London-based side wants to negotiate an easier set of add-ons with United before they sanction the sale of Mbeumo to United this summer.

From the sounds of this, a deal is now very close with only minor details preventing Mbeumo from joining United, but this should be easy to solve.

How much will Bryan Mbeumo earn at Manchester United?

If United can wrap this deal up, it will be a real coup for United and a massive win to secure such a highly rated player ahead of clubs who have Champions League football next season.

It was claimed that this allure from United was purely financial; however, Mbeumo is expected to earn £150,000-a-week at Old Trafford, which is in line with the wage structure.

£150k-a-week would have Mbeumo on the same amount Christian Eriksen has been earning for the past three years, and just £30k-a-week more than Victor Lindelof was on.

The value for money on Mbeumo is significant, and if he lives up to the bill and performs as he has at Brentford, then it could be the signing United have been waiting for.

This deal could be done very soon, so keep your eyes peeled.
