It only takes one to get the train moving, and Manchester United fans would hope that Bryan Mbeumo is the one who makes it move now.
More than a month after registering their interest in Bryan Mbeumo and failing with two bids, the third time was the charm for Manchester United.
United’s third bid for Mbeumo has been accepted by Brentford, and Ruben Amorim will have his star attacker in the squad for the USA tour.
However, the work doesn’t stop there, and a key detail in Mbeumo’s deal means United must now push for a double deal to transform their window.

Man Utd’s push for double deal
With Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, United have already added 35 Premier League goals to a squad that scored 44 as a whole last season.
However, nobody will mistake it to call it a day on United’s transfer window so far, especially since they’ve only spent about £37m this summer on Cunha and Mbeumo.
Cunha’s £62.5m fee will be paid in three instalments (about £21m this summer), while Mbeumo’s £65m will be paid in four (about £16m this summer).
That means United could well be in a position to buy more without needing to complete any sales, which have been difficult to do so far.
It looks like United know it too, considering they are now in a position to make Mbeumo signing the headline of a triple deal act that can transform the window.
United are pushing for Senne Lammens, the Belgian goalkeeper who has an asking price of £17m, all of which won’t be paid up front either.
Then comes the most important signing, that of a striker. United have been linked with many, but if they are wise and continue their Premier League-proven ways, they can do a lot worse than Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Mateta is reportedly priced at £26m and scored 14 league goals last season, and swooping for him will fill all the holes in the Man Utd squad, in a combined outlay of less than £100m this summer.
Senne Lammens and Jean-Philippe Mateta lining up perfectly
The links to Senne Lammens have gained pace while those for Mateta have gone a bit quiet.
However, United insisting on a relaxed payment structure for Mbeumo, even at the cost of delaying it a full month, means that they have planned for the next deals.
United are now in a position where two more signings are lining up perfectly, and it can be expected that the noise around Lammens, in particular, intensifies.
The sales in the meantime will definitely help, but United’s window is no longer being held hostage by five unwanted players who also don’t have lucrative suitors.
That is a negotiation win for Ineos, and one they’ve earned after catching a lot of flak due to the delay over Mbeumo’s deal.
If that results in the signing of a striker and a goalkeeper to complete a remarkable triple deal, all will be forgotten.
