A Manchester United talent left a lasting impression on Ruben Amorim after the Red Devils manager heard what he said in the ‘corridors of Old Trafford’ this summer.
Ruben Amorim held his first pre-season training at the Carrington training complex this summer after Manchester United players returned to the Red Devils last week.
The first round of United players arrived at Carrington last Monday and Amorim had the opportunity to work closely with first-team players and youth academy talent.
Another round of United players reported to Carrington in the same week and the Red Devils have been working towards the start of their pre-season summer tour.
United have been out of action since the end of their disappointing 2024-25 Premier League campaign and the two-match post-season tour of Asia in May.
The Red Devils will begin their pre-season campaign in Europe and United will meet Premier League rivals Leeds United at the Strawberry Arena in Sweden on Saturday.

Diego Leon’s six-word message at Old Trafford amid pre-season training sparked a response from Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim
Ruben Amorim has now been able to add Diego Leon to his Manchester United ranks after the 18-year-old Paraguayan wonderkid arrived at Old Trafford this summer.
United agreed to sign Diego Leon back in January from Paraguayan side Cerro Porteno and the Red Devils talent’s signing was announced earlier this month.
Leon has linked up with his United teammates for pre-season training under Amorim and the Red Devils defender has made an early mark with his work at Old Trafford.
Amorim’s tactical system for United is built for a player like former Cerro Porteno left-back Leon, who can also operate down the flanks as a left wing-back.
Manchester United’s official website shared Leon’s first moments at the Red Devils and how the wonderkid ‘drew a beam’ from Amorim with what he had to say.
“I’m going to give my everything,” Leon said.
What Diego Leon had to say about his first visit to Old Trafford after completing his Man Utd transfer
Diego Leon now has the chance to impress United manager Amorim even further during the pre-season tour of the United States and Europe in July and August.
Amorim is expected to rotate his options during the five-match tour and United fans could have their first real opportunity to see Leon in action for the Red Devils.
United’s website touched on Leon’s visit to Old Trafford and the ex-Cerro Porteno talent was in awe at the size of the Red Devils’ iconic home stadium.
“It’s like a maze,” he said.
The friendly match between United and newly promoted Premier League side Leeds United will be played in Solna and kick-off will be at 2pm UK time on Saturday.
