Harry Kane has made it no secret that he believes Wayne Rooney is one of the greatest strikers of all-time.
Wayne Rooney will forever go down as one of the greatest players in Manchester United’s history.
Holding the record for most goals scored in a United shirt, Rooney found the back of the net 253 times in 559 games.
Rooney also won five Premier League titles, the Champions League, FA Cup, Europa League and Club World Cup during his time at Old Trafford.
The former England captain left United to return to Everton in 2017 before going on to play for D.C. United and Derby County.
There has been a shortage of great strikers at United since Rooney’s departure, even though he spent his final years at the club playing a midfield role. That’s why United signed Benjamin Sesko in the summer to address an issue that exists in front of goal.

Harry Kane picks Wayne Rooney over Thierry Henry and David Villa
Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane is recognised as one of the best goalscorers in the world.
After scoring 280 goals in 435 games for Tottenham, Kane has improved his scoring rate with 103 goals in 106 games for Bayern.
Kane was linked with a move to United before joining Bayern, but Erik ten Hag was forced to settle for Rasmus Hojlund instead.
There have been rumours that Kane could sign for United if he returns to the Premier League.
The England captain has done TikTok challenge with the Daily Mail, which is called ‘winner stays on’, where he selects the best from a list of world-renowned strikers.
Kane selected Rooney over a list of strikers as follows:
- David Villa
- Karim Benzema
- Raul
- Thierry Henry
- Ruud van Nistelrooy
- Andriy Shevchenko
- Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Moreover, the list contains World Cup-winning duo Villa (Spain) and Henry (France).
The only player that made Kane think twice was Cristiano Ronaldo, and he was unable to pick a winner between the former United star and Lionel Messi.
It’s a list Rooney will be proud of.

However, Rooney is second in the charts with 53 goals, while Sir Bobby Charlton is third with 49 goals.
