Manchester United’s summer transfer business is beginning to bear fruit, with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo joined by Senne Lammens and Benjamin Sesko on the success list.
The former two were always likely to be successes due to their history in the league, and the latter two are starting to come into their own as well.
However, a big hole remains in central midfield, which Casemiro is trying his best to fill, but he’s clearly stretched too thin to be able to do it regularly.
Fortunately, Ruben Amorim could get an unexpected gift in January to complete the unfinished business amid a latest ‘advanced’ claim.

Rasmus Hojlund could provide a gift to Ruben Amorim
When Rasmus Hojlund joined Napoli in the summer, it was on an initial loan deal with an option to buy for £38 million at the end of it.
That option would turn into an obligation if Napoli qualified for the Champions League, which was always going to be a matter of “when”, not “if”.
It was effectively “money in the bank” for United next summer, and with Hojlund shining at Napoli, it was a guaranteed windfall.
What nobody expected was that Hojlund would shine so much that the money in the bank for next summer would arrive even sooner.
Recent reports suggest that Hojlund to Napoli is already advanced, with the Italian side eager to make the move permanent in January itself, sending a sweet £38m package United’s way.
That’s an unexpected result of the loan move not many would have seen coming, not just because Hojlund has shone this much, but because there is no reason for Napoli to buy him soon.
Nobody else can get him in January, and in the summer, they have the first option to trigger that clause before anyone else.
It could be a case of Napoli wanting to register this purchase in this year’s financial accounts, and in that scenario, United could benefit immensely.
Hojlund money can complete transfer business at Man Utd
If United get the £38m in January, they can go out and fill the desperate need for an athletic central midfielder six months ahead of time.
Now that United look like they will be in the mix for European spots this season, Ineos will be tempted to get Amorim more help for the second half of the season.
Signing two new midfielders is not out of the question, and with Hojlund’s fee arriving, they can get a head start by signing one.
Furthermore, in Connor Gallagher, they also have a clear option they can get in January, especially with this windfall.
With Carlos Baleba struggling immensely, strengthening their midfield with a smart signing like Gallagher in January by re-investing the unexpected windfall from Hojlund would be extremely smart.
Gallagher is Premier League-proven, and United can go into the summer not being held ransom as desperate buyers in the midfielders’ market.
Napoli’s decision to buy Hojlund earlier than usual couldn’t have come at a better time for Ruben Amorim and Man Utd.
