Jonny Evans is no longer Head of Loans and Pathways at Manchester United after suddenly deciding to step away from his role at the club.
There is no denying that Jonny Evans was a fantastic servant to Manchester United as a player.
The Northern Ireland-born defender graduated through United’s academy and became a trusted member of Sir Alex Ferguson’s squad, experiencing lots of success and proving to be a good professional even after Louis van Gaal decided to sell him to West Brom.
Evans returned to Old Trafford eight years later as a free agent when Erik ten Hag was in charge. During his two spells at the club, the 37-year-old won three Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup, and two League Cups.
After becoming a veteran at United, Evans decided to retire at the end of last season, before becoming Head of Loans and Pathways at the club – in a role that would see him guide the next generation.

Jonny Evans steps away from Manchester United role
Evans is considered part of the furniture at United, which is why the club were keen to have him remain at the club in some capacity.
The question was always whether Evans would fancy trying his hand at something else, other than a role overseeing loans for United players.
Evans may fancy himself as a coach at some point, especially after playing for the biggest club in the world and representing Northern Ireland on the international stage for many years.
According to TrainingGround.guru, Evans has decided to step away to spend more time with his family before pursuing a different challenge.
The report adds that United will now begin looking for a replacement to fill the void left by Evans.
Ineos will need to choose wisely, as every decision is likely to face heavy scrutiny unless improvements are made at every level of the football club. The mood at Old Trafford lifted between October and November, but it has since nosedived.

What did Jason Wilcox say after Jonny Evans’ appointment?
United were clearly proud to appoint Evans as Head of Loans and Pathways in June.
Football director Jason Wilcox was aware that Evans had become a role model at the club, and they wanted to lean on his knowledge to aid the development of youth players.
Wilcox praised Evans for being a role model at the time, telling club media: “Having just finished his exceptional playing career, Jonny is the perfect role model for our young players.
“Jonny’s knowledge of what it takes to succeed at Manchester United will be of great benefit to each of them as we continue to develop world-class talent capable of performing in our first team.”
