Confirmed Manchester United line-up vs Burnley, Darren Fletcher starts Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United’s line-up to take on Burnley has been confirmed by Darren Fletcher for the first game of his interim spell in charge.

It has been a whirlwind week for Manchester United, which began with the sacking of Ruben Amorim on Monday morning.

Darren Fletcher was named as interim head coach, taking control until a caretaker manager could be appointed at the end of the season.

The former club icon will be in the dugout at Turf Moor on Wednesday night, with Fletcher even confirming some exciting injury updates, with Kobbie Mainoo, Bruno Fernandes, and Mason Mount all back in training.

Fletcher’s first, and potentially last, confirmed line-up is now out, with there being massive changes to the team from Amorim’s team that drew 1-1 with Leeds United.

The biggest changes include the return of Bruno Fernandes to the starting line-up, with Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount back on the bench with Harry Maguire.

How Manchester United should play football against Burnley

Earlier this season, United struggled to a 3-2 win over Burnley, granted only by a late winner as creativity struggled to break down the low block.

However, Fletcher will have given his team a lot more attacking license.

Fletcher wants to play the United way, citing the club’s DNA as the instructions he has been giving his U18s this season.

But what does this mean?

Fletcher will look for his side to attack at pace, with flying full-backs and likely a 4-2-3-1 shape, although the players available to him don’t entirely suit this.

One thing to expect is his goals, with Fletcher telling the press he aims to give the players a platform to express themselves, which suggests attacking quality, and Benjamin Sesko would be a good bet to get amongst the scorers list.

Meanwhile, the centre-backs will have a must more difficult job than in a 3-4-3, although the double pivot should offer protection.

Meanwhile, the creativity of Bruno Fernandes should be a massive boost for United.
