Arsenal legend Ian Wright singled out Kobbie Mainoo after the Manchester United and England midfielder’s performance against Tottenham on Saturday afternoon.
Kobbie Mainoo has started and played the full 90 minutes in all four of Michael Carrick’s Premier League matches in charge of Manchester United so far.
The 20-year-old Stockport-born talent has experienced a resurgence in form in recent weeks after his rough treatment under Ruben Amorim this season.
United legend Michael Carrick has restored the importance of Mainoo’s status to the first-team squad and the midfielder has been a key player for him at Old Trafford.
Mainoo picked up his second assist in the Premier League in the space of four matches after he set up Bryan Mbeumo for Man Utd’s opener against Tottenham.

Ian Wright’s position on England star Kobbie Mainoo couldn’t be clearer after Man Utd’s win over Tottenham
Kobbie Mainoo saw out the majority of Manchester United’s 2-0 victory over Tottenham at Old Trafford alongside Casemiro in the two-man midfield pivot.
The England international has been increasingly returning to his best form with each match passing, with Mainoo growing in confidence in his midfield role on the pitch.
Ian Wright was deeply impressed with what he saw from the Red Devils midfielder and he felt that Mainoo ‘ran the show’ in Man Utd’s performance against Tottenham.
“I think the red card does make a difference, especially with the possession, but I don’t think it made a difference to the way they played, the energy, the way they were attacking,” he said, as per the Premier League’s official website.
“Kobbie Mainoo really ran the game.”
Ian Wright’s reaction to Man Utd’s Premier League result against Tottenham at Old Trafford
Man Utd built on their 1-0 lead from the first half after Bryan Mbeumo broke the deadlock, with Bruno Fernandes putting the Red Devils 2-0 up in the second half.
The Red Devils’ result over 10-man Spurs is United’s fourth consecutive Premier League win since Michael Carrick took charge at the Red Devils in January.
Speaking after the full-time whistle, Wright said: “It’s the kind of performance you’d expect from a Man Utd side that has these players in and around them.
“Michael Carrick’s come in and given them the belief, the formation that they’re comfortable in and with the quality players they’ve got, you will get the results.”
United are fourth in the Premier League table and the Red Devils are currently three points behind third-place Aston Villa and second-place Manchester City.
