Roy Keane and Gary Neville both disagree over best centre-back pairing Man Utd have ever had

Gary Neville did not see eye to eye with Roy Keane over Gary Pallister and Steve Bruce being Manchester United’s best centre-back partnership of all time.

The 51-year-old Manchester United legend climbed through the ranks of the Red Devils’ youth academy during the 1990s before breaking into the first team.

One of Man Utd’s famed ‘Class of ‘92’ stars at Old Trafford, Gary Neville played alongside Gary Pallister and Steve Bruce in the backline under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Both Pallister and Bruce forged a dominant partnership and are widely regarded as one of the best centre-back pairings of all time in United’s longstanding history.

Roy Keane backs Gary Pallister and Steve Bruce for his picks amid Gary Neville setting his sights elsewhere at Man Utd

Speaking on The Overlap’s TikTok page, Manchester United legend Roy Keane was asked to name the best Premier League centre-back pairing of all time.

The 54-year-old legendary former Man Utd captain threw his backing behind ex-Red Devils teammates Gary Pallister and Steve Bruce for his all-important picks.

“Bruce and Pallister,” Keane said.

“Bit of loyalty there as well, lads.”

Gary Neville came up after Keane in the video and the former Man Utd skipper snubbed Pallister and Bruce for the best Premier League centre-back partnership.

The ex-England and United right-back instead chose fellow Red Devils legends Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic for his two picks ahead of Pallister and Bruce.

Steve Bruce’s admiration for Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic was the ultimate Man Utd compliment

Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic have challenged Bruce and Pallister for the mantle of Man Utd’s best defensive partnership of all time in the Premier League era.

Bruce refused to compare Ferdinand and Vidic to him and United legend Pallister, but the former Man Utd defender was in awe at the pairing under Sir Alex Ferguson.

“Defensively, United are rock solid. Ferdinand and Vidic are a really good pairing,” he said, as per The Daily Mirror in 2012.

“It would be wrong for me to make comparisons to me and Pally – I will let everyone else do that – but you can see they are two excellent players.

“Vidic is also hugely impressive in the opposition penalty area, as his headed winner against Everton a few weeks ago proved.

“His desire to go and head it is a dying art. I’d always be disappointed if I didn’t score eight a season.”

Ferdinand and Vidic were at the heart of Ferguson’s Man Utd defence and both are widely regarded as two of the best centre-backs of all time in the Premier League.
