Manchester United will be active in the transfer market in summer 2026. Look out for potential bargains.
During the Ed Woodward and Richard Arnold eras, Manchester United developed a reputation for wasting money or overspending.
The club’s record under Ineos has improved, with a lot more prudent spending. This has been evidenced by the acquisition of three first team players who each signed for under £20 million. It is clearly no fluke.
While we expect some more costly deals in 2026, don’t be surprised if Ineos manage to snap up another bargain like these three…
Senne Lammens
Senne Lammens signed for Manchester United for £18.2 million in 2025, a fee that was questioned by Paul Scholes. The club legend expressed worries Lammens’ quality, arguing that he could not possibly be a top level goalkeeper due to the fee.
Lammens has spent the season making Scholes look silly. He has established himself as Manchester United’s first choice goalkeeper, and appears to be a long-term solution for the position.
Of the three players on this list, Lammens has had the biggest impact, and also looks set to take over in the future as Belgium’s number one.
Goalkeeper is a tough position to solve, but Lammens has made it look easy.

Noussair Mazraoui
Manchester United signed Noussair Mazraoui for £12.8 million in 2024, a move that looked like an astute one at the time.
Mazraoui’s sketchy injury record at Bayern Munich contributed to his low fee, but United felt it was a risk worth taking. It has paid off; he played more than 50 games in his debut season.
The Morocco international is a class act, able to play in multiple positions. His ability to contribute equally at right-back and left-back makes him an ideal squad player, one who has the quality of a first choice starter.
Ayden Heaven
Manchester United’s swoop for Ayden Heaven in January 2025 could go down as one of the club’s best investments in recent times.
Heaven was signed as a first team player, rather than an academy prospect. He cost United just £1 million.
The centre-back looks like a future England international, who has shown he is a ready-made Premier League starter.
Rather than pay £70 million for Jarrad Branthwaite, United bought a top quality alternative for a fraction of the price.
The best is yet to come from Heaven, who could be a star at the club for the next decade.
