Report: Man United like £25m wonderkid who Chelsea look set to miss out on

Manchester United made an ‘enquiry’ for Corinthians’ £26 million-rated midfielder Gabriel Moscardo but the Premier League giants are yet to submit an offer for the Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain target.

This, it seems, is a similar story to that of Andre Trindade. Manchester United, per The Standard, have made their interest known in the Fluminense enforcer.

But, as things stand, they are yet to turn that interest into anything more concrete with Fulham currently at the front of the queue for the Copa Libertadores-winning Brazil international.

Swap out Andre’s name for Gabriel Moscardo’s – and Fulham for PSG – and you’ve got a parallel tale developing at Corinthians.

Gabriel Moscardo liked at Manchester United

United, ESPN report, have made an ‘enquiry’ but no bid for the £26 million-rated midfielder.

As things stand, Chelsea are the only club to submit a formal offer – their £17 million bid rejected over the summer – but Paris Saint-Germain are now considered to be at the front of the queue.

PSG’s director of football, Luis Campos, will be in Brazil to watch Moscardo in action next weekend.

Moscardo is just 18 years of age. Born just over 12 months after Wayne Rooney was posing for photos in a Manchester United shirt for the first time. The teenager is already a regular in the Corinthians XI, however, while forcing his way into the Brazil U23 squad. Moscardo scored his first senior goal this week against Vasco da Gama too.

Erik ten Hag eyeing midfield targets

Described as the ’steering wheel’ of this Corinthians side, he is the player who tends to set the sat nav from his deep-lying role, Moscardo one of a number of talented young midfielders on United’s radar alongside Joao Neves (Benfica), Arthur Vermeeren (Royal Antwerp) and Javi Guerra (Valencia).

Of the aforementioned quartet, Neves appears the most likely acquisition for the Red Devils as things stand. PSG, meanwhile, will step up their talks with Corinthians in the coming days as the French champions ‘close in’ on Moscardo (The Standard)
