Rio Ferdinand names two funniest members of legendary Man Utd WhatsApp chat, says another is ‘blowing people up’

Rio Ferdinand singled out three former Manchester United players who are part of a legendary WhatsApp chat featuring ex-footballers from the Premier League club’s past.

The Manchester United defender enjoyed a prolific career at Old Trafford and experienced incredible success under legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Rio Ferdinand lifted six Premier League titles, a Champions League and two League Cups during his time at United before his exit from Old Trafford in 2014.

The 45-year-old TNT Sports pundit was a key part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s United teams of the past, having forged a formidable partnership with Nemanja Vidic.

Ferdinand has opened up on his close relationship with United legend Ferguson, with the ex-defender revealing one instance where they didn’t see eye to eye on things.

During his time at Old Trafford, Ferdinand was fortunate enough to share the pitch with a roster of star-studded talent, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Scholes.

The ex-United and England defender has previously revealed that he is part of a WhatsApp chat including former teammates from his playing days at Old Trafford.

Ferdinand on new addition to WhatsApp chat

Speaking on his VIBE with FIVE show, Rio Ferdinand revealed that Manchester United cult hero Dimitar Berbatov has become a recent addition to the WhatsApp chat.

However, the former England international admitted that Berbatov has come across as completely different compared with how he knew him in the United dressing room.

Ferdinand said the 43-year-old ex-United striker was the “quietest man” at Old Trafford, but Berbatov has since channelled his inner Patrice Evra in the WhatsApp chat.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the United legend said: “Berba’s just come in and letting off smoke! He is on it!

“He’s gone from the quietest man in the dressing room…he is like Patrice Evra now out there, just blowing people up!

“Sending pictures, lookalikes, hammering people in terms of their ability. ‘You were dead, you were rubbish, you can’t talk about certain aspects of the game because you were rubbish at that.’ On it! He is on it!

“If I could give you the transcript out of it, some people wouldn’t work again.

“Certain people’s careers would be put to dust, the way people are getting dismissed in this group. Ruthless.”

Ferdinand names funniest members of WhatsApp chat

Ferdinand was quizzed on the funniest members of the famous WhatsApp chat of ex-United players and two names came to mind for the United legend.

The footballer-turned-pundit revealed that former United teammate Anderson is “quite funny” and even sends voice notes to the others in the chat.

Ferdinand added that Quinton Fortune, much like Anderson, is “funny,” but the former United player also “hammers everyone” in the chat.

“Ando is quite funny,” he said.

“Quinton Fortune’s funny. Quinton Fortune just hammers everyone. Puts emojis or pictures of people.

“There’s certain aspects of people that we remember when we played that I can’t get into because it’s quite personal that get brought up regularly.”

Speaking on Anderson, Ferdinand said: “He can’t speak English, bruv! If I played you his voice notes, he starts chatting and we go, ‘What are you saying, bruv?’ He says people’s names and we go, ‘Who’s that?’

“He was here for four, five, six years, he doesn’t know how to say ‘thank you.’”
