Fiorentina captain David de Gea has opened up on two major moments from his legendary playing spell at Manchester United after his 2011 move to England.
David de Gea spent 12 seasons at Old Trafford after former Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson signed the 35-year-old Spaniard from La Liga side Atletico Madrid.
Signed for a transfer fee believed to be £18.9m in 2011, the Fiorentina shot-stopper enjoyed major success during his prolific run at the Premier League club.
De Gea captured a Premier League title, a Europa League trophy, an FA Cup and two League Cups before the Manchester United legend made his 2023 exit.

David de Gea endured a tough start to life in England after his departure from Spain and the former Manchester United No 1 had to adapt amid the criticism he faced.
During the former Spain international’s bumpy start to life at Old Trafford, the Red Devils saw the Premier League title snatched away from them by Manchester City.
De Gea admitted that City’s 2011-12 Premier League title win was a tough pill to swallow after United had beaten Sunderland on the final day of the season.
“We lost the Premier League in our first year when City took the title from us with a last-minute win despite our victory over Sunderland,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Following Manchester City’s Premier League title win in 2012, Sir Alex Ferguson brought former striker Robin van Persie to Old Trafford as a marquee signing.
Robin van Persie had a major impact in his debut season at United and the Red Devils were able to snatch the Premier League title back from Manchester City.
Ferguson retired as Man Utd manager at the end of the 2012-13 campaign, but De Gea felt it was a true redemption moment for United after what happened in 2012.
“I made up for it by winning it in 2012-13: every game at United was special,” De Gea continued.
Man Utd’s 2012-13 Premier League title under Ferguson was the last time that the Red Devils lifted English football’s top-flight domestic trophy.
